Checkpoint Charlie

Today we used one of the  open top Berlin Hop on Hop off city tour buses to get our bearings which took about 2.5 hours for the complete circuit. This was a delight in the lovely sunshine and having bought a 2 day ticket we made some mental notes about where to return to. 

Our first Hop off on a 2nd circuit was Checkpoint Charlie and I had to be quick to get a photo without other tourists jumping in to get their photo taken. There certainly wouldn’t have been a McDonalds close by in the time before the Berlin Wall was taken down ! 

Our next stop was at what is called the East Side Gallery where a long section of the wall has been painted by many different artists and two examples are in the extras. 

We got off again at the Brandenburg Gate and walked the short distance to the Reichstag the seat of the German parliament and from there wandered back to the hotel.

As usual I was in trouble for taking too many photos !
