Our Autumnal Horse Chestnut tree.
The Feast Day of Saint Thecla of Iconium. A courageous female Saint. She was alive at the same time as Saint Paul and St Thecla was inspired by his preaching of being devoted to holiness and prayerfulness.
Also, it is the Feast Day of Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina. 1887 to 1968. He is patron saint of civil defense volunteers and of adolescents. He was an Italian priest, mystic and stigmatist.
Monday has started at 14c, rainy and cold. Rainwater is useful for the plants and the water butt needed filling.
I have plenty of housework to be getting on with, the washing and drying. When it stops pouring down, the grey wheelie bin needs to be wheeled back into the garden.
The cats stayed in over night as it was cold and damp. They went out at 8:30am before the rain began, but they are home again now.
This photo of the Horse Chestnut tree is one I grew from a conker and we brought it from our old small terraced house garden. I saved so many plants from there, but I miss the ferns.
Yesterday morning Paul and me could hear gun shots in the distance. It was unsettling to say the least. Later, on Facebook, I read that someone had been shooting wild geese. The conversation on the thread expressed our horror that such activity was happening. It had been reported. There are laws about when and where wild geese can be shot, but hearing it happening, was not a happy experience. Very alarming.
I hope you have better weather this week than what we have ahead. Keep warm. Take care blip friends and thank you for visiting my site today.
