A Day Worth Recording

Gravetour

Apparently it's heritage week, or something, and the local cemetery and chapel were open with a talk and tour around the particularly interesting graves - including that of Rear Admiral Julian Baker - former owner of our house.

This is not him, this is the grave of one Malcolm Hillier Crew 1877-1932 and what caught my eye was the steam locomotive in the bottom left corner.

He was the manager of the carriage and wagon department of the South Eastern and Chatham Railway, Ashford, Kent.  It's unclear whether he had a railway connection with Malvern, retired here, or simply died here.  (He retired at the age of 48 which might suggest failing health?)
