Singing The Praises Of A Vintage Display
Today after the usual food shop and our customary pint at The Horseshoes we decided on a detour on the way home to The Friars (our local Carmelite Priory) to attend the Kent Classic Car Show which takes place every year on an open field in the grounds showcasing a fabulous variety of classic cars, encompassing both original and restored vehicles.
My brother had to be somewhat persuaded to attend as there had been some very heavy downpours before we were due to arrive and he was worried that it might be either called off or a total quagmire. Luckily the weather turned just as we got there, the field had held up well following the recent deluges and we were able to view all the automative excellence without much encumbrance.
My main shot just appealed to me because of the contrasting colours of each of the cars - a crimson Singer Chamois in the middle and the flanks of a purple and green Morris Minor on each side.
The first and second extras were captured due to the fact that each person in the image appeared almost completely detached from the vehicular splendour on show - the gentlemen in the first extra appears to be just sheltering from the passing showers and peering over his glasses to concentrate on something else entirely whilst the lady in the second extra seems to be engrossed much more in the book she is reading.
In the third extra it looks likes there is an intention to start 'em young as the baby appears to be being edged towards the driving seat of a Ford Mustang!
The last two shots are of a row of Ford Anglias with their distinctive tail fins and a rather oddly spread-eagled soft toy on the dashboard of an American muscle car. What a display - all for an entrance fee of only £5!
