QUEENSFERRY BRIDGE
Well we are home and the journey was very good.
We set off after breakfast, it was misty and low cloud but the roads were relatively clear.
We joined the Queensferry Bridge no problem, then we had to negotiate our way via the M90, M9, M8 and A720 to get on to the A702 to meet Garron at The Steading to pick him up.
Amazingly the roads were good and we made it. We very nearly ended up missing the merge on to the M8 and would have ended up on our way to Glasgow but at the last minute we made it - phew!!!
The Hermiston Gait Roundabout is huge and I was dreading that, but having studied it on the internet beforehand it helped by knowing which lane to be in. All this only took us about 45 minutes, so yeah.
Sadly The Steading no longer opens at 10.00 am so we just to meet up there and then move on. However we stopped of along the A702 at which is now known as "Errington's Barn" and was previously known as the Big Red Barn. It was always a great place for food.
Errington's is now a cheese makers and they have a cafe, so we stopped for coffee and a nibble, where I also bought some cheese made on the premises. Lovely people and a lovely stop
Very low cloud all the way along the A702 and A704(M), then we got to just before Carlisle and went to the Tod Hills Rest Area, which is basically a Costa Coffee. Still better than the motorway services though.
We then swapped over driving to give Hubby a break and I drove the rest of the way home. It rained most of the way on the M6, which I always hate due to the spray.
We made it home by 2.30, so not too bad at all. Now shattered but we had a great time, the most important part being, that Rob got to see his side of the family.
I will start catching up with all your blips tomorrow and Wednesday, so please do acceptance my tardiness but I'm sure you will all understand.
Take care, stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
