More an optical elusion to get the 'from' a low angle. Look at the track long enough you'll think the pier and people are above you, maybe... 

I'm surprised I could see the town let alone the pier, it was foggy over most the area all with way from the west side of the Moors. Plenty of rain today too. 

Had a brief visit to Saltburn-by-the-Sea whilst visiting my daughter in New Marske. Popped into the vintage barn, an art gallery across from it and grabbed a meal deal at the supermarket. Not sure if these feet are mine or not! Unlikely as I didn't visit the wine section.
