Some actual people were harvesting grapes today. There are still a few left. Older vines aren't planted in a way that makes them suitable for machine harvesting, and anyway if you want to do carbonic maceration, you can't use a machine because it damages the grapes with its massive jaws. For this reason, these hand-picked grapes are tipped into smaller containers rather than being poured wholesale into a trailer. I didn't like any of my other photos that had actual people in them, so you're getting this semi-abstract one.
Thanks for all the comments on our book group meeting. We did have a lot to say about it and continued on WhatsApp. Today K posted this interesting article about whether we can separate the artist from the work. Especially when it's Alice Munro, whose work is so clearly bound up with her own life.
