Last Day Of Summer

At 2pm the thermometer read 90°F. By the time we went out in the boat, fortunately it had dropped to 78°. Weeks of hot, dry weather end today, with rain finally in the forecast tonight and all day tomorrow.

A startled heron flew off into what remained of a sunset. It's departure seemed to capture the essence of the moment.
