Kindling the Fire in China

Amazon the online retail juggernaut is trying to ignite interest in its Kindle Fire tablet and Paperwhite eReader in China.

At a street promotion, in Shenzhen, Amazon entices customers into its all encompassing retail ecosystem. Not too many people were showing an interest in fact there was a promo here last week for washing machines which drew a bigger crowd.

According to one ABC.net comparing the Kindle PaperWhite with the Kobo Glo argues book availability remains problematic with Kobo having some authors and publishers on board that Amazon doesn't and vice versa. Sometimes the book you want won't be available for sale in Australia at all which is very frustrating and leads some readers to illegally download books instead. Kobo has the edge overall because you can load any book using the common ePub format, onto it. Amazon will only let you read PDFs and books you buy through the Kindle store.. This for me was an absolute deal breaker.
