A very new wee Dotterel

This wee soul hatched about 30 minutes ago. So cute. We still have 7 more to hatch. These eggs were brought to us by 2 guys who work at the Airport Wildlife. They have rescued them out of nests that have been laid in very dangerous places at the airport. One pair of birds insisted on nesting on the ground where the huge Globemasters work. The Globemadters do daily trips to the ice carrying all sorts of supplies- vehicles, building supplies as well as personnel. They are huge planes The Chch - Antarctic program has just started for the season- these tiny tots would not have survived.
