Flying Fary.
Our planned "Tourist Day" was to visit Trentham. Kat had been thwarted on a previous occasion by the gardens closing early for a music event making the entry fee not sensible. We thought we had it all planned two of us RHS members so free entry Kat had an offer voucher from a magazine of two for the price of one. Wrong! We were too early in the Autumn for the RHS scheme and they didn't take part in the Two for One scheme.
So having paid in we went. The gardens are known for the 21 wire sculpture fairies scattered round the gardens. Kat got Kanyl into the wheelchair and off they went on the path round the lake. Clickychick and I followed along behind. Apart from the lovely walk round the Lake and through the woods there are of course the Italian Formal Gardens but for me (us?) the main attraction is the wildlife. We had lots of opportunity to photograph Dragonflies resting on fence posts (some form of Hawker I think), Australian Black Swans, the usual waterfowl and in a pool near the ruins of the house Young Smooth newts.
