Going up Mt Etna
…the hard way.
It might just be me - probably is - but why would you be climbing up the world’s tallest, most active volcano when there’s a perfectly serviceable cable car nearby?
Could be the cable car fee - it’s taken a huge post-Covid hike (see what I did there) up to €50 flat for everyone. No discounts.
Could be the queues - they’re everywhere, from the bus service near Catania Centrale, all the way to as high as they let you go.
Still not what I’d see as a sensible decision - it’s frickin’ steep as!
Al‘though I’m sure these intrepid souls would view we oldies as stolid and unadventurous.
So be it, it is what it is, agree to disagree, etc.
