Musselburgh 10k

I ran the Musselburgh 10k this morning. Like I said yesterday, I haven't run an official 10k in at least a couple of years - I run them all the time in training and so it didn't seem worth it to pay to do something I do all the time. Anyway, as this was a local race, it was cheaper than a lot of other 10k races and I wanted to see what time I could do.

I can't remember the time of my last 10k (or indeed when I ran it!!) but I think it was well over the hour mark. Today I did it in 55 minutes and 48 seconds. Significantly better and my new PB!

I can only apologise for this picture, it was a boiling day again in Edinburgh and by the time I'd finished, I was knackered. Plus I'd poured half a bottle of water over my head to cool down while running!

I really wanted to post this picture though, because it was true!! There was a free ice cream waiting for me at the end of the race! This confused me, because growing up we had a long standing joke that my parents would get me to do things, for example, climb Ben Nevis, by tellingly there was an ice cream at the top. In case you're wondering, there wasn't! But it just goes to show that I'll do anything for an ice cream!

Today's run: 6 miles
July running mileage: 64 miles
2013 running mileage: 612 miles
