Fallen Leaves ( Shalekhet )
This is the name given to an exhibition at the Jewish Museum in Berlin which we visited this morning. The building itself designed by the architect Daniel Libeskind is very symbolic in itself with sharp angles and sloping walls ( no right angles anywhere) and several empty voids. The blip shows one of the most poignant exhibits featuring over 10000 open mouthed faces cut out of heavy metal plates and needing to be walked over to cross the “Memory Void “ . The sound of people walking over the plates was quite disturbing as I am sure was intended..
I had hoped to visit the Pergamonmuseum that a friend had told me about but it is closed for major renovations until 2027.
We came out of the museum to heavy rain as had been predicted so we abandoned our thoughts of meandering our way back to the hotel and made a quick dash to Checkpoint Charlie in the hope of catching a taxi and we were lucky but not before we were fairly wet as the extra of Mrs AMK shows ! Not the first time this has happened to us on holiday which as a family we refer to as KHW. !
