Bloodwood

I photographed this flowering street tree today in our nearby town of Ballina. Until a few years ago it would have been classified as a species of Eucalyptus - I'm guessing 'gummifera', commonly called red bloodwood. Then some botanists proposed that about 100 species of Eucalyptus, mainly the bloodwoods, should be re-classifed as a new genus, Corymbia. The proposal seems to have been accepted and, if my guess is right, this one is now Corymbia gummifera

My blipping is a bit spasmodic these days, as our house move to Brisbane is happening next week and there are lots of things to do.
