The window did not, in fact, get finished today owing to the small problem of not being arsed to go to B&Q for the moulding. So I did this instead. The receiver formerly known as broken (though I don't think it was actually broken) is now fully back in working order. It spent the afternoon playing away to itself through the back to give it an opportunity to overheat and / or blow up but it did neither. Still a couple of small things to be done - spray the switches and pots with contact cleaner and reattach the mains cable properly - and then I can put its lid on and wonder what to do with it and look for something else to fix.
