Purple Haze

Purples, mauves, indigos, violets, pinks, lilacs..all frothing together in a foaming sea on the Cotswold hills in the summer haze today.

The heat pounding down at mid-day brought out the delicate aroma of the lavender which wafted on the occasional breeze over the fields rolling as far as the eye could see. Totally stunning to stand wrapped by the colour and scent!

It wasn't only me mesmerised by the fabulous sight as it had brought out every Japanese tourist for miles. We had a bit of a Kate Winslet moment going on here - with the signs 'Please do not walk in the rows of lavender as they are easily damaged' ignored. Maybe they couldn't read them.

These fields were planted in 2000 replacing the wheat and barley which used to grow there. It's 1,000ft above sea level on free draining limestone which give it brilliant growing conditions.

Off then to the beautiful, quaint village of Snowshill to the pub there for a bit of liquid refreshment! Sitting in the garden the peaceful atmosphere was startlingly broken by someone possibly learning the drums - well - he was no Phil Collins! Enough said!!

Looking forward to my blip meet with Annie B tomorrow - :))))))))))
