Day out on the train

Without actually getting on the train. A nicely planned ride, Carnforth to Long Preston, 2 hours for lunch at Maypole Hotel, train to Settle, Carlisle and back to Lancaster Carnforth.
One hour before we set off , the train was cancelled, so we decided to take the replacement bus to Long Preston. After a lovely breakfast at the Brief Encounter Tearoom, we went to get the bus. After 40 mins, it didn’t arrive and we couldn’t get a straight answer if there was really a replacement bus on the way on the phone.
Change of plan, we went to the Royal Station Hotel for a drink. Then changed to a bus trip. We took the 555 to Windermere, had a wonder around, only short, my dad and MIL were with us too. On the way home we stopped at Romneys in Kendal for dinner, then the last bus home.
