Today in the Men's Shed I had 3 'Shedders' working on stained glass windows. I also managed a little work myself but not enough to show yet.
This is Barry, he is our oldest member at 86 years. Since I have been attending the Shed I have only ever seen him use the wood lathes often knocking out a small bowl each week.
In his lifetime he has built, often single handedly, 1000's of houses around North Yorkshire and all with only being able to sign his name having been dyslexic all his life. This is something he wears as a badge of pride.
Last week I introduced him to stained glass and he made 2 Christmas trees. today we designed this small window, sorted out the glass, and with a little help with the difficult cuts he has produced this tulip. Next week he is looking forward to the soldering.
Elsewhere in the Shed there was a bit of clock repairing, an ornamental garden wheelbarrow was made, CNC carved bridge signs made and some electrics worked on for our overhead railway line. I'm sure others did stuff like wood turning, hedgehog box making and cabernet making but I didn't get to see it all.
