MS Argusauge

Another learning day of my course out of the office. Train to the main station and then walk along the Humboldthafen. The boat, the MS Argusauge, is a bridge inspection vessel. I guess there are plenty of bridges that need to be inspected regularly. On the way home I made a detour via Unter den Linden. I came across an excellent exhibition on the main road in Berlin, their present state and how they got there and visions for what they might look like in the future. Three of our local streets featured, Bundesalle which is a major through route, Schlossstrasse our local big shopping street and the A104, the fly-over at the Breitenbachplatz. The history is really interesting. However, I am more excited by the proposals to redevelop these places to reduce motor traffic, increase active travel, make them more pleasant places and prepare them for climate change. Given the noises coming from the Berlin senate it will take some convincing to make these proposals reality.
