Poetry

We had a dinner with people from the rowing club - the group of people I went to Barcelona with - it was Katherine's birthday and we were glad that our friend L could come.
It was really a lovely evening. The food was excellent and plentiful.  I made dips to have at the aperitif - baba ghanoush, beetroot and mint, artichoke and lemon and basil, and sweet potato hummus. The host was missing her poetry workshop, so we all brought a couple of poems to read, interspersed throughout the evening. We had poems in Spanish, French and Czech, some by well-known poets, others more obscure. Katherine also read a poem that she wrote, and it was lovely.  I chose a poem by Naomi Shihab Nye, and another by Apollinaire. We had a lot of laughs too! One of these evening that can sustain you for a while. I am very lucky.
