Lady in waiting
I had a good day planned. Ha.
For 3 weeks, I have had some weird tingling / numbness in my right leg. Elbows wanted me to get it checked out because it hasn’t gone away. I thought it might be a Long Covid thing.
So I did an online form on the surgery website and was given an appointment almost straight away. I got there on time but then waited for quite a while. A short while though, in comparison, it turns out.
A saw a young doctor who did all the neurological tests which were fine and with NTR, but he concluded that I needed a CT scan in case I’d had a stroke! There was no evidence of one but he thought it was necessary !!!
So I went home. Packed up some food and my kindle and caught a bus to North Mid A&E. Hmmmm. Waited in one place. Waited in another place. Had an ECG. Had blood taken. Waited somewhere else. Blue screen was there. Turkish friend Ali, who is a doctor, joined me for one half hour. He asked me lots of questions too. He left because he wasn’t worried.
I got called through eventually. 4 hours later after arriving originally I think. Was assessed by a doctor whilst sitting in a room and on a bed my mother had been in and on 4 years ago. We had assumed then, my sister and I, that she was dying. But she recovered that time. Very odd being there.
This doctor asked questions and examined me too. She then sent me off and I waited somewhere else. In a corridor this time. She wanted to check my blood results.
When she finally came out, she was absolutely sure I didn’t need a scan and hadn’t had a stroke. I didn’t think I had.
She has diagnosed Meralgia Paraesthetica and had printed out a booklet for me - and reading it, it makes sense.
So relieved to get home. And Elbows was out at an Arsenal game this evening so I just vegged on the sofa. Happily waiting for a better day !!
