Jungle pals
Having gone to bed early I woke very early…with the headache still in place, and it stayed nagging at me in the background most of the day again.
I finished reading the papers for my Board meeting this afternoon then got up and pushed on with the final bits of cleaning and made the dessert for this evening. Realised I’d booked the restaurant for tonight instead of tomorrow but managed to get it changed thank goodness (but of course beat myself up for once again making such a stupid mistake).
VW came round and we chatted about both our recent Italian breaks and I showed her the progress I’ve made on our blurb book of the Borneo trip, then I left her to welcome the visitors whilst I walked down to town for my meeting.
All went smoothly, with lots of 3D images of the building and how all the different layers of services and structures fit together or where adjustments are needed…complicated!
Home and started on preparing dinner whilst V had taken B&J on an underground tour. They arrived back fizzing with excitement about what they seen and learnt about Edinburgh history…clearly was a successful idea for their introduction to the city. They were pleased the torrential rain they’d had on their journey north and in the Lakes yesterday had stopped but it was cold and the wind was pretty ferocious.
We had our G&Ts and chatted non stop all evening…the three of them also fuelled by champagne! We all enjoyed the steak pie - I don’t think I’ve ever seen V eat so much! Dessert went down well too, then we collapsed back into the sofas and talked travel plans for next year (they’re going to India whilst we’re in Vietnam and Cambodia) and places they’ve been before. So lovely to be back with them and we had a great evening. More sightseeing and talking planned for tomorrow!
