The weather continues to weather...

So, the M5 is flooded and closed while they pump off 6000 litres per minute of standing rainwater. The A38 backup route is at a standstill, and the bottom of the village is under water (by the housing estate that we said would be under water when we opposed its construction). 

I'm not expecting any contractors to arrive today... [edit: but they have.]

Still, at least it's not Florida, where they're suggesting folk who don't evacuate write their names on their bodies in indelible pen... If you're in the path of Helene, my blessings and hopes for a safe passage. This might be the start of the next phase of climate chaos.

There's a thing about acceptance... it's not defeatism, but acknowledgement of the ability of the individual when set against those in power who know what's happening but do nothing. Amidst all the rain, the flower still faces the Sun.
