Totems
After a fairly bumpy end to Wednesday night we awoke to calmer waters on Thursday 26th and docked in Ketchikan around 10:30 am
Ketchikan known as “ salmon capital of the world” and some pre-trip research had told us that we could follow a totem trail round the town. Maybe the lady in visitor information wasn’t a local but she really didn’t think we could see any totems in town without taking a bus 10 miles out to the native village… So we decided to ignore her and follow the trail marked on the map—-> and lo and behold we saw not only totems a plenty but salmon , seals and even a bear foraging under the boardwalk!
After a couple of hours the heavens opened which was our signal to head indoors and browse the shops before heading back to the ship.
Tonight is orange party night being on a Dutch cruise line :we’re going as a pair of Aperol Spritz :)
