Belated birthday cake

If you’re going to be away on your birthday, you get belated birthday cake instead of birthday cake. The former is the same as the latter; it’s just not presented to you on your birthday.

I made the Black Forest gateau in Freya’s recipe book. It almost looks like the one in the picture, but because of reasons, including Tesco, Panda Car and differences in piping skills, there are certain non-similarities.

Oh, and I broke the electric mixer by burning out the motor.

The cake was deemed impressive and tasty.
