Last one hanging
Figs have been late and few this year, struggling to ripen in our sunless summer and wet autumn.
It's a transient ritual, palpating the fruit daily to see which have achieved the required degree of 'give' and picking them before they drop.
Last year I had enough make fig jam for the first time: two jars, and we've just finished the second.
