Jungfraujoch (The Top Of Europe)

Switzerland backblip, I wanted to share.....

One of the 'Must Do' trips when visiting Grindewald or surrounding areas, is the Jungfrauchjoch - A magnificent feat of engineering which is almost too much to take in

I have added two links below where much more information is available. (Jungfraujoch and Eigergletsher)

But in essence there is a hotel, restaurants, panoramic viewing platforms, shops, Ice Palace and more. The journey is in itself a must do trip, starting as it does down in the valley, rising to  2300m by cable car to Eigergletscher Station. And then on a steeply rising track an ultra modern railway takes you up another three thousand feet through the Eiger mountain itself!

My blip is a long range shot looking up from Kleine Sheidegg railway station (5000ft above sea level)  Jungfraujoch appears on the skyline as tiny blob but in large view you might even see people on the terrace. The views from this airy platform are astonishing. I think so any way!

Way down in the image and on a rocky outcrop is a miniscule building that I cannot identify but think it may be a climbing hut?

For a man who has had a sheltered upbringing, and is afraid of heights, this was awesome!
