Hubbard Glacier, Disenchantment Bay, Alaska

A morning of absolute enchantment, despite the geographical name of today's destination.

The spectacular Hubbard Glacier had us enthralled for hours up on the observation deck, despite the positively frigid temperature.  Absolutely stunning landscape of majestic, cloud-wreathed mountains ending with an incredible 8-mile wide glacier pushing out into the bay.  The ice here is 600 feet thick at the water's edge (with 350 feet above the surface of the bay and 250 feet below).

Just before lunch, more crazy foolhardy brave souls took it upon themselves to do the Polar Plunge into the ice-filled water.  Brr!  Rather them than me!
