Dolly's Day

AT THE MATCH

Newcastle had a home game this afternoon.... an early kick off at 12.30pm.  They were playing Manchester City.  I got a bus into town early in case there were traffic delays.  The roads were busy but the bus did a detour over the Swing Bridge instead of the Redheugh Bridge so there were no hold ups.

So far this season Newcastle haven't played too well.  Last week against Fulham they were dreadful.  They would have to improve  today to have any chance of beating a top side like Man City.

From the start Newcastle were playing much better than in previous games  - they seemed to have more energy and a will to win.  Lots of good performances.  However Man City scored a goal after 35 mins.  Newcastle didn't let that upset their game plan and they kept on trying for a goal in the second half.  Finally on the 58th minute they were awarded a penalty and Anthony Gordon scored.  The score was 1 - 1 at full time.... but the ref added on 7 mins of extra time.  A very nail biting 7 mins hoping Man City wouldn't score.  At the final whistle the score was 1 - 1 so a well deserved point for The Toon.  The attendance was 52,305 -- 2,987 were away fans.

My collage shows a couple of the large flags being waved, Newcastle players, Schar, Murphy, Joelinton and Gordon and Manchester City's top goalscorer Erling Haaland ( he didn't score today ).

After the match I popped into Tesco for a couple of things.  Newcastle was very busy. As well as usual shoppers and the football fans the students are back in town and out and about shopping and socialising.

I had a parcel to collect in the Metrocentre so I caught a bus there. The traffic was bad and it took ages to get out of the city centre.   Got my parcel and went to Poundland for bird food.  The Metrocentre was very busy as well. Long wait for a bus home - then two came together.

The weather today was chilly but very sunny.  It rained for about 5 mins at around 3pm.

Steps today - 11,141
