Birthplace of Elvis
We left Natchez at 08.30 this morning in glorious sunshine 74 degrees headed up the Natchez Trace Parkway at the beginning, then jumped onto the freeway as the weather deteriorated.
We were on the fringes of Hurricane Helene all the way up to Tupelo. We had decided we were too close not to make a detour to visit Elvis’s birthplace.
The wind & torrential rain made for a long ol drive, C was skilled dealing with the conditions, some idiotic driving & all on the wrong side of the road lol. I had never driven abroad until today, thankfully I’d had my turn before the weather changed :-)
We were dressed in tees & shorts, no jackets or trainers, so were soaked by the time we finished but it didn’t matter.
The blip is a bronze of a very young Elvis aged 13, with his guitar.
Once we left Tupelo, we still had 220 miles to drive to our destination in memphis….. overall 10 hours, with a couple of stops, done +559 miles but it was worth it :-))
