Life in Sunny Dubai

I had a productive morning getting shot of the bits of the ironing that take long. We then had a quick lunch and headed to the Nikon store where they deliver Nikon School courses. Today we learnt the theory of taking Portraits - giving us tips on how to read lighting and get the model to pose. It isn't my type of photography at all, but it's always good to know what to do even when taking pictures of friends.

There was time to get back to the flat to change before we drove 50 km South to the JA Lakeview Hotel, another property I never knew existed until the lady at Elite Club recommended using one of my vouchers there. Today is the last (thankfully). The restaurant was called 81 (?!). It was the first question I asked the waitress as she walked us to our table. It is named to mark when the main hotel (the Jebel Ali Beach Resort) opened its doors. Nice!

Like our first buffet a week ago, the food and service were excellent, though the way the buffet was laid out wasn't ideal. There was a live musician - a brilliant violinist. She played a fantastic choice of songs - everything from the 50s to more current tunes. The lobby was fascinating with the art they had - birds in flight and a stag in the lobby.

We drove home on relatively clear roads until we got close to the Burj Khalifa. There was a long tailback even at 10 PM! I don't think I want another buffet meal until 2025.
