Chora Sfakion War Memorial

We spent the last day of our holiday around the harbour here, reading in the sun and enjoying a late lunch before our taxi picked us up at 6pm for the journey back to the airport.

The war memorial sits above the harbour from where British, Australian and New Zealand troops were evacuated from Crete, having been led to safety through the gorges and mountain passes by locals. The plaque in extras provides more detail of events if you are interested.

We got home about 4am Tuesday morning, since when our internet has been down. It’s now Sunday and, having spent nearly two hours on the phone to the internet company this morning, they’ve finally managed to establish some sort of connection, albeit at very slow speeds, before they can restore it to full speed on Wednesday.

This is the first time I’ve been able to get on Blipfoto or upload anything so lots of catching up to do.
