I'm guessing he's been sprayed yellow to deter thieves. Or maybe, as Paola suggests below its to make him look super smart for a show.

Spotted on a 10km geocaching walk round Warton Crag .  It took us about 4 hours with a lot of wasted searching in a couple of places.
