The wind gets up
There had been a bit of rain overnight and the wind had picked up. The red flags were flying on the beaches all day to indicate unsafe bathing conditions. The weather stayed fine all day, however, with a bit of a breeze, which was fine for our morning jog.
Later on, before the sun set, we took a wander along the front. Saw a few people had ventured into the water - they got a sharp whistle from the life guards and one person was “escorted” out. Not sure if they were actually in difficulty or it was just deemed they were overstepping the mark.
In the little square there has been a small food festival on all weekend with stalls selling beers and some local street food. There was also a band playing which had attracted a crowd. A lively rendering of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary” went down well (First extra). Makes you feel rather old though when you remember dancing along to it when it first came out over fifty years ago!
Going back to our apartment we encountered a rather different parade of folk in formal 19th century dress - no idea what that was all about! (2nd and 3rd extras).
