The Mirror Tree

We had a lovely time with our eldest son M., C. and baby Pi. in Darmstadt.
We visited the Rosenhöhe and the exhibition "Tales from the other side".
at the sculpture garden "Spanish Tower".
I love the reflection of Teba in the "Mirror Tree
(I add more information at the end of the blip, because there is no English description available  ;-) )
More sculptures to discover in Teba's and H0tamer's blips.

It was lovely to catch up with the young family. Pi is already 4 month old and her smile is just heart warming :-D
There was also a market at the Hofgut Oberfeld with delicious self produced food and life music. We discovered a store that sells products of the Nieder-Ramstädter Diakonie, where Teba works and we found grill lighters, which Teba used to produce, too.   :-D

Mirror Tree
Vera Röhm
2017
Bronze and polished stainless steel, 650 x 65 x 65 cm

Vera Röhm's "Mirror Tree" initially seems to blend into the landscape, only to then unfold its effect in subtle irritations. Behind the realistic reproduction of the oak trunk in the material of bronze, the reflection opens up an alternative, alienated perspective on the surrounding nature and architecture. In the interaction with the viewer, the relationship between reflection and perception, between representation and reality is addressed. The impression is created of a "crack in the canvas" or a "mistake in the simulation", the fragility of the reality we perceive appears.

The oeuvre of Vera Röhm (*1943 in Landsberg am Lech, Germany), which includes sculpture, installation, drawing and photography, is formally in the tradition of constructivism and testifies to the engagement with concepts of space, time and human perception. She received the Wilhelm Loth Prize and the Johann Heinrich Merck Award from the city of Darmstadt.
