Interim farewell to the North Sea
It'll be a little while before I'm able to go on a sociable Sunday morning swim again. And by that time, the sea will probably be too cold to do more than a quick dip. So I revelled in this morning's swim up to the green door and back again. The swell was lower than yesterday (and much lower than Friday), but conversely the surface of the sea was a little more choppy than the previous days. So that's the reason I make no apologies for using yet another Shandwick Beach photograph as my blip. No photos, but what I think was a juvenile gannet was diving into the sea alongside us, fishing for its breakfast, I guess. It was also swooping low over our heads in the water. Quite impressive.
Mr A had stayed at home to do preparations for this evening's supper, welcoming N and A for chats about their recent holiday as well as this and that. I also ran around with the shark vacuum cleaner and sorted out a few bits and pieces to make the place more presentable for visitors.
I'm a little annoyed that yet again a head cold has attached itself to my chest, so coughing has started up again. So far, fairly mildly, but I really hope to throw this off again as soon as possible. It is truly tedious that I can never have just an "ordinary" cold.
Edit: in fact, by the middle of the following week the cough had gone. It didn't really get any worse than it was on the Monday after this photograph was taken. I picked up cough mixture from the pharmacy in Tain (which gave me my blip) but I've barely used any of it (writing from the perspective of the following Sunday). So it was just more or less a mild head cold.
