What do you do on your 80th birthday?
Well, today M decided to celebrate with an experience out of this world.
We went into Edinburgh to hear astronaut Tim Peake speak.
Getting home afterwards proved a nightmare. We discovered there was no train to Stirling after 8.35.pm and the show finished at 10pm.
Thanks to some kind young people they helped us sort out an Uber - we had never used it before- and we arrived home in style after midnight by taxi.
As for Tim Peake we learnt some interesting facts: did you know that astronauts have an enema the day before they fly into space? In the early days of space flight, the men peed into their space suits. Neil Armstrong first stepped on to the moon with his boots full of urine.
One of the most intriguing bits of information we learnt is that one research project in space is an experimental 3d printing of human organs like heart and lungs.
It’s all to do with lack of gravity enabling the stem cells to grow properly.
PS. M.’s birthday is a protracted affair this year with two celebration meals lined up later with friends. He is grateful to all his family and friends for their cards and presents and wishes to thank them.
