We finally got home just after 9pm last night - hence Blipping a bit late!

We spent most of the day at Burghley House, meeting up with friends and their children. The day was cool and cloudy, but stayed dry until early evening. Our friends went mid afternoon, but we stayed around til closing time. Nearly ended up there a bit longer because we'd been in the Sculpture Garden (main Blip of wood offcuts) in a dark corner when the staff did their 'sweep' just before 5pm and so we found the gates locked when we got back to the entrance! I banged on the door to the shop and someone came and unlocked the gates. The journey back took a little longer due to a crash that closed part of the A1 - I spotted it on Google Maps and we diverted around it entirely. Unfortunately, only a few miles from home, we hit a small deer. Fairly sure it didn't survive - it certainly wasn't moving when we stopped and looked back. Didn't want to get too close though as that can make injured animals bolt into traffic. The car looked fine at the time and the deer wasn't obstructing traffic so we drove home. In the cold light of day this morning the car was inspected more closely - we have a cracked bumper, a broken grille and a misshapen fog light housing. Tim is on the phone to the insurers... V glad the deer wasn't bigger and that there were no vehicles immediately behind us.
