Souvenirs

As I sit here shivering, looking at the rain and grey skies outside, I thought I’d cheer myself up by unwrapping the souvenirs we brought back from our recent holiday.
The rosewood box with the lemons on it was eye-wateringly expensive, if you look on it as just a little box, but the level of craftsmanship and artistry is outstanding. As mentioned in a previous blip, this was not our original choice but is, in fact, better than the one we originally looked at. The container and Xmas decoration were bought on our last day. We’d seen a box in their window previously in the same pattern, but thought it would be too big to go where we wanted. So we were pleased to find this little container when we went inside the shop. Both the box and the container are fine examples of the inlaid wood work that Sorrento is renowned for.
Mrs C wanted a new bowl for her breakfast fruit and yoghurt, as the one we bought last year unfortunately got chipped at some point. And the Amalfi plaque is now hanging on our “wall of memories” along with all the other similar items that we have acquired over the years. I think I may have blipped that wall a couple of years ago when we “rehung” it after the decorating was complete. No doubt the Xmas decoration will appear on the tree later this year!
Not a lot else to report today. Did some shopping (no food in the house), went to the library and popped in to the travel agents to thank them for arranging such a great holiday. They were delighted to get that sort of feedback, though I did have to say that next year we are planning a U.K. break. No problem - they will look forward to sorting something for us in 2026!
A full on Blackadder rehearsal tonight - as many props and costumes as possible so we get used to working with them. Only 11 days until opening night so the pressure is building up now. Hopefully I can still remember my lines after (effectively) a fortnight away…
