Vrangfoss

A little history lesson today. In the province where we live (Telemark) there are several lakes. These lakes are connected with locks and canals. Some of these locks have multiple chambers. This one actually has five but you will only find four on the picture and in the lower one is a ship. Our ship was in the fifth at the time of the picture. The chambers on this picture cover a difference of height between lakes of 23 metres and are manually operated. These lakes and canals are called the Telemark canals and were used for the wood industry. It is great fun to have a little trip on a tourist boat on these lakes and canals.
