Atop Dumgoyne

Its a bank holiday weekend and the weather is good! At least for a day! Woo-hoo!  We headed north for a trip up Dumgoyne which has been looking at me from the end of the Campsies for some time now.  It's a short work, just a little over 2 miles, but it's pretty steep.  The effort / reward ratio is again high though, with stunning views across to the Trossachs, the Arrochar Alps, some of the Ochills and out over Glasgow.  We were super lucky to catch the far rain shower and the wee rainbow too.

After the brief but taxing walk, we nipped into the Glengoyne distellery and found out that the goyne reference is all about geese, so the distillery is 'valley of the geese' which makes sense being so near to the south shore of Loch Lomond.  P had a couple of taster drams and came away with a bottle of 10 year old.

We then got a ratehr large lunch in Milngavie which has changed a bit in the twenty years since we did the West Highland way, but not by a huge amount. The Iceland has gone and a M&S food has appeared which I guess shows the change in times.  All in all a grand day.
