Toots in Solitude

By Toots

Donald and I had arranged to meet a friend of Ruth's this afternoon, Bridget who writes articles for the little magazine 'Canalside'. She had been keen to meet the 'character' Donald because I intend to make a poster with one of Donald's poems about a duck on the Canal, he's a local Poet you know!! and she'd like to do a write up about him. That was an interesting meeting.
Here's Ruth rushing down to meet us on her bike, a most remarkable lady dashing from one side of Edinburgh to the other always on some mission to help people.
This evening Donald lost the use of his legs again, this happens sometimes, so when it was time for him to go up to his flat to bed we struggled together, his arm around me and me supporting him. Eventually he was settled comfortably into his bed and we'll make sure he has a good rest tomorrow, that often does the trick. He's such a gem though and we laugh and he takes it all in his stride.
