The Silent Skeleton...
...and the sound of cars screeching to a stop .
I decided that the quilt was almost finished and took myself off to the fabric store to get some backing. Spent a lot longer there than I expected to because they have a whole new selection of fabrics, including several shelves of Kaffe Fassett's voluptuously vibrant fabrics. (extra).
I seemed to be having trouble concentrating this morning occasioning a lot of wandering around and getting sidetracked, but I did manage to accomplish a few odds and ends. I wandered similarly around the fabric store trying to stay on track and buy just what I came in for. But what exactly was that? Using only a photo of the quilt on my phone to choose a color for the backing made the choice more difficult as I knew they weren't quite the same as the real thing. I was quite distracted entertained by the conversation of a group of 8 or 10 women sitting around a big table in the back each sewing away on something. They were having a fair amount of difficulty figuring out how to put together a packet of squares and what size the squares should be so that they didn't wind up with a surfeit of extra fabric. I think some sort of exchange of packets was going to take place but I couldn't justify lurking around the batiks near their table any longer to find out.
Halloween decor is beginning to appear and this larger than life-sized skeleton hoisting itself out of the ground certainly caught my eye as I drove by it on the way home. How could it not?
