Hein Buisman Foundation

The foundation will renovate the municipal monument from 1894. The historic house on the corner of Kanaalweg-Oud Jaagpad will become part of the new district 'Veste' that the development combination will build on the Spaansen site. In the past, when there was still a towpath where the Oud Jaagpad is now located, the house served as a bridge keeper's house. Later it became the home of the master servant (tile boss) of the Van Hulst roof tile factory, later the Haitsma company. After the renovation, the development combination will temporarily use the house as a project and sales office for the houses that are being built on the Spaansen site. The Hein Buisman Foundation was established in 1963 to safeguard the old city beauty. The foundation has restored more than a hundred buildings in over sixty years.
