I was at the hairdressers this morning. Hadn’t been home long when the garage phoned*.

After lunch I intended to have a circular walk, through the park, along the riverside to the rugby club before looping around and back home. Once out I changed my mind and decided to follow the river all the way to Waterhead and get the bus back. Then another change . . . instead of going just 2 stops on the bus I’d go to Grasmere and have a wander there too. There was no rush to get home.

I expected a lot more autumn colour along the riverside but only a few beech leaves were catching my eye. At least this is autumnal.

* The good news is . . . the car is repairable. The bad news . . . it is the expensive part that the AA man said, not the cheaper possibility that the garage thought it could be. And while they’ve got it stripped down it would be a good idea to replace the timing belt. Fortunately I have full trust that they’re not going to rip me off.
