Steve

Today was mostly about saying farewell to Steve. A lovely man who was the wildlife warden on Cape Clear Island. He ran the Bird Observatory on the island, his surname was Wing appropriately enough and he died suddenly and too soon a little over a week ago. He had been out doing what he loved, taking friends around on a nature walk on the island and when they returned and had finished their cup of tea, he stood up from the table and knew no more, due to a heart attack.
Most of the islanders made it up to Cork today for his cremation as well as many friends and birders from here and across the sea. He moved to Cape Clear from Lundy Island off the Devon coast over 25 years ago and was much loved.
He had been making a series of YouTube videos, I have linked one here for anyone interested in what a wildlife warden on Cape Clear might get up to.
