Sky Ride

In Bournemouth to meet up with my old school friend Lib. She lives on the Isle of Wight and you'd think it would be an easy matter to meet up several times a year but being busy ladies with jobs and families we struggle to manage it more than once a year. However we squeeze every minute out of every hour that we are together with talking and laughing and drinking and eating.

Today in Bournemouth there were about a million extra people all intent on enjoying the sun. There was also a cycle event which was like a mini Tour de France. The road outside our hotel circles the town and was closed off from 6pm to 11pm. After the "serious" cycling race there followed a "fun" event where hundreds of people, young and old took to their bikes. It was an amazing spectacle of speed, style and effort. Apart from a couple of very young children on tiny bikes crying as they lost sight of parents in the final descent to the finish line (terrifying), everyone was jubilant in their achievement. A great end to a happy day !
