I was utterly delighted with the self-portraits which my class painted today. I have taught this lessson for several years and this year's paintings were by far the best. There's usually a few shockers among the crop, as well as a few gems, but this year's paintings were all at least reasonably good, and at least recognisable, as well as several outstanding renditions.

School shooting stories always hit me hard, especially when the victims are around the age of the children I teach, as was the case in the West Nickel Mines School shooting. It's just the most awful thing imaginable.
