BITTEN OFF MORE THAN IT CAN CHEW

A good day today.  Weather was pretty good.  Sunny intervals and cloudy, so that's great.  I took Garron up to Ambleside as he likes going to The Rock Shop.

We got parked OK, plenty of places not too many people.  Went for coffee in the Apple Pie Bakery Cafe, which was OK but music too loud for me, still we weren't in there for too long.  Then we went to the Rock Shop and had a mooch around Ambleside.  Garron can't make it up the hill to the waterfall.

After that we tried too go to the Windermere Jetty Museum for lunch but it was too busy, so I bought a couple of Christmas presents from the shop and we decided to go to Storrs Hall Hotel instead.  They have a Bistro there now so we thought we would give it a go.  It's very pricey for us, but totally delicious and worth it for a treat about once a year.

We then had a lovely wander around their grounds, looked at their new metallic swan statues and visited the Temple for Heroes (see extras).  The octagonal building at the end of the walkways was designed by Sir John Gandy in 1804 for Sir John Legend, the then owner of Storrs Hall. There are 4 arches and 4 tablets remembering 4 Admirals of the Fleet, Duncan, St Vincent, Howe and Nelson.  It is also called The Temple of Heroes and is now owned by the National Trust.

Now home and and looking forward to meeting up with CumbriaLass and Fletch tomorrow before going off for my covid and flu jabs in the afternoon eeeeeekkkk!!!!
